Teacher guide · Step 4
Assign homework
Choose a set, the practice that counts, how much of it, and when it's due. Your class sees it straight away.
Assign a set
- In Classroom, open the class, then choose Assign homework. Open Classroom
- Give the homework a title, such as Food vocabulary — week 4, and choose the vocabulary set. Students practise your set directly rather than a copy, so a word you fix later reaches them straight away.
- Tick the exercises that count toward finishing. The sentence exercises appear once you've chosen a set that has them.
- Choose what counts as finished:
- Each exercise, once, the default.
- A number of rounds (1–50), counted across every exercise in the assignment. A round is one pass of one exercise over the whole set.
- A number of minutes (1–600) of practice.
- Add a due date and a note to your class if you like (both optional), then select Assign to class.
Students see the homework at once, under Classroom on the web and under Homework on their phones. With a due date, students using the phone app get a reminder the day before and again on the day, if they haven't finished.
If you aren't signed in, the web app asks you to sign in first and then opens the map. From there, choose Classroom in the menu on the left.
Changing homework
- Edit an assignment from its page to change the title, exercises, requirement or due date. Your class sees the change straight away, and moving the due date resets the reminders.
- Withdraw an assignment to remove it. Every student's progress on it is deleted too, so to give the class more time, move the due date instead.
Tip: flashcards show words rather than test them, so they don't produce a score. Add at least one other exercise, such as matching or multiple choice, if you want marks to look at.
