Chatterbox for AI assistants

Connect Chatterbox to the AI assistant you already use, such as Claude or ChatGPT, and build lessons by asking. Your assistant writes the vocabulary, exercises and activities, and they show up in Chatterbox ready to practise on the web and on your phone. Teachers can run whole classes the same way.

Connect your assistant

You need a Chatterbox account, which is free. Every assistant uses the same connector address:

https://mcp.chatterboxlabs.io/mcp

When you connect, a Chatterbox page opens. Sign in with the same Google, Apple or email account you use in the app and allow access. Your assistant never sees your password.

Claude

  1. In Claude, open Settings → Connectors (on claude.ai: Customize → Connectors).
  2. Choose Add custom connector, name it Chatterbox and paste the address above.
  3. Select Connect and sign in to Chatterbox.

It then works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile. More detail, including Team and Enterprise plans, is on the Chatterbox for Claude page.

ChatGPT

  1. In ChatGPT on the web, open Settings → Apps & Connectors. Adding your own connector may first need Developer mode, under Advanced settings.
  2. Choose Create, name it Chatterbox, paste the address above and choose OAuth for authentication.
  3. Sign in to Chatterbox when asked, then turn the connector on in a new chat.

Other assistants

Any assistant or app that can add a remote MCP server (often called a connector or integration) can use Chatterbox. Add the address above and sign in when it asks.

Then ask for something, like “Make me a set of 15 Spanish words for ordering at a restaurant.” To disconnect, remove Chatterbox from your assistant's connectors. Anything it made stays in your Chatterbox account until you delete it.

What it can do

Your assistant writes the content and Chatterbox turns it into practice: flashcards, matching, conversations, reading, sentence building and more, with pronunciation audio for every word.

Vocabulary sets

  • Read your profile to pick the right language pair.
  • List and open your sets so new words don't duplicate old ones.
  • Create a set and add words, each with its translation, an example sentence and multiple-choice options.
  • Edit or delete a word, or delete a whole set.
  • Publish a set to the public Chatterbox library, or unpublish it.

Exercises and activities

  • Add exercises: fill in the blank, conversations, conversation responses, reading and listening comprehension, translation mediator, and describe-the-word games.
  • Add a custom activity: a small interactive exercise your assistant designs from scratch, such as a family tree to label or a market to haggle in. It runs in a sandbox and its answers are checked by Chatterbox.
  • Every word also works in flashcards, matching, memory, multiple choice and the other word games automatically.

Classrooms and homework

  • List, create, update, archive or delete classrooms, and get the join code students use.
  • See the roster and remove a student. Students appear by display name only; your assistant never sees their email.
  • Assign homework from any of your sets, choosing which exercise types to use and when it's due, then change or withdraw it.
  • Check progress: who has started, scores, time spent and the words the class is missing.

Tools that delete, overwrite or publish are marked as such, so your assistant can check with you before using them.

Things to try

  • “Make me a set of 15 French words for travelling by train, with example sentences, and add a few fill-in-the-blank exercises.”
  • “Create a Spanish 1 class called Period 4 and give me the join code.”
  • “Build a lesson on masculine and feminine family words for my Period 4 class, add conversation and reading exercises, and assign it due Friday.”
  • “Design a custom activity where students label a family tree with el tío or la tía, and add it to that set.”
  • “How is Period 4 doing on the family homework? Who hasn't started, and which words should I reteach?”

Your data

  • Chatterbox receives only what your assistant sends when it uses one of the tools above, such as the words for a set or the name of a class. It never sees your conversation, your assistant's memory or your files.
  • What your assistant creates is saved to your Chatterbox account, exactly as if you had made it in the app, and stays there until you delete it.
  • The connector can only reach your own sets and the classrooms you teach or have joined.
  • Sign-in uses OAuth, so your assistant never sees your Chatterbox password. Access expires after an hour and renews automatically while you use the connector; removing it from your assistant ends the connection.
